Proposal for gender-equitable, climate proof and sustainable development in Georgia

Nino Gamisonia (RCDA) talks about a proposal for a gender sensitive NAMA (National Appropriate Mitigation Action) for the energy sector in Georgia at UNFCCC in Bonn, Germany

At the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Bonn, Nino Gamisonia from our partner organisation RCDA  was invited to talk about gender sensitive National Appropriate Mitigation Activities (NAMAs) in Georgia which focuses on solar energy. The presentation was in the frame of the 'In-session workshop on gender-responsive climate policy with a focus on mitigation action and technology development and transfer [part 1]'.

First of all, Nino Gamisonia presented the Baseline situation in Georgia. Main source of energy is firewood, which has a huge climate impact. As a alternative for firewood RCDA and WECF introduced solar water heaters in Georgia. Furthermore, Nino Gamisonia talked about lessons learnt during the last years of implementing solar water heaters in Georgia and special features of a gender-equitable NAMA.
